Deliver Value Fast: Work Smarter and Move with Purpose
We’re back with the second edition of our Spotlight Series, shining a light on 1 of our 6 Leadership Principles. This time, zooming in on Deliver Value Fast.
Sarah Briddon, Senior Manager of Employer Brand expertly hosted the hybrid session, joined live by Nico Daudin, SVP Consumer Product, and Brad Moore, VP of Engineering, who joined the session remotely.
To kick things off, Sarah introduced a word map built from live audience participation. Words like agility, impact, and ‘be speedy’ filled the screen, which set the tone for a lively and interactive session about what it really means to Deliver Value Fast.
It's the value we’re after, not just speed
Nico got into the topic by getting to the heart of it: “This isn’t just about doing things quickly, it’s about learning fast, removing blockers, and creating meaningful impact. It's the value we’re after, not just speed.”
Brad added: “Let’s be clear: this is not management speak for ‘work harder’. It’s about focusing on what’s valuable. If we don’t know what problem we’re solving, how can we move fast with confidence?”
Core Behaviours
Throughout the session, Sarah, Nico and Brad anchored their conversation around the three core behaviours that bring this principle to life:
- Focus on What Matters: Nico reminded us: “You can’t do everything fast. You have to pick your battles!” Prioritisation is key. We need to understand what our consumers, riders, and partners truly need, and then strip away anything that doesn’t serve that.
- Move with Pace to Drive Impact: Brad shared a behind-the-scenes peek into his team’s way of working: “If something goes unresolved for more than a week, we bring everyone together in a meeting and decide a way forward there and then. Having clear decision-makers means faster progress.”
- Be Comfortable with Change: Nico offered a fresh take: “We often treat decisions like they’re life or death. But most decisions can be reversed. One of the secrets of Delivering value fast is to maximize the number of two way door decisions we can take. You fail fast, learn fast, and move on.”
Hero Stories
Another great moment came from Katja Glad, Senior Agile Coach and the session’s Hero speaker. She brought real-world insight into how small changes in process and mindset can unlock big value.
She shared three inspiring examples, one of which was from a recent initiative called “Hack for Good”, where her team tested a product hypothesis during a hackathon. The bold question: Can selfless compensation options build emotional connections with our users and set our brand apart?
Katja emphasized the importance of de-risking initiatives early, minimizing wasted time, and honing in on what truly matters to our customers. She reminded us that disproving a hypothesis is sometimes just as valuable as proving it, because we learn fast, iterate, and move forward smarter!
