Breaking Barriers: What is Girls’ and Boys’ Day?

Girls’ Day focuses on sectors where women are traditionally underrepresented, such as IT, natural sciences, and technology. By offering hands-on tech experience, we aim to enhance future career prospects and earning potential for young women.

Boys’ Day invites young men to explore roles in social, educational, and care-oriented fields. Through immersive workshops, we aim to strengthen social skills and inspire new life paths in areas where men are less common.

A Tech-First Approach: 2026 Workshops & Innovations

This year, we hosted 24 bright students aged 13 to 18 from schools across the region. The day was split into two high-impact tracks:

1. Girls in Tech: Building with AI

Led by Software Engineers Mareike Ruth Höger, Ayushi Gupta, and Raphaela Vergud, our female participants tackled the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence.

Adopting a problem-solving mindset, the students identified real-world challenges and developed technical solutions. The session culminated in a live demo of three fully functional AI applications built by the students in just one day.

2. Boys in Design: Professional Wireframing

The boys’ session was led by Product Designers; Kolawole David Popoola, and Abdul Benbrahim. Using professional tools like Figma, the students were challenged to solve user-centric problems.

By the end of the day, they had produced three detailed app wireframes that achieved a near production-ready standard, proving that creativity and empathy are the core of great design.

Real Stories from Heroes

The day closed with a session led by two of our senior leaders, Katrin Abwerzger and Christina Lee. By sharing their distinct personal and professional journeys, they offered a window into the reality of life at a global tech giant.

Despite coming from different backgrounds and navigating unique career hurdles, both women demonstrated that leadership isn't “one-size-fits-all”. Whether you start in tech, or a completely different field, your trajectory at Delivery Hero is fuelled by your perspective and resilience, not just a specific degree.
