Muslim Heroes: Celebrating Iftar, Culture & Connection

At Delivery Hero, building an inclusive workplace means creating space for people to show up as themselves. One of the ways that comes to life is through our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), which help foster connection, representation and community across our business.

Raising Awareness

One of those groups is Muslim Heroes, an ERG focused on creating a strong sense of belonging for Muslim employees and allies at Delivery Hero. The group celebrates important moments such as Ramadan, while also driving everyday initiatives that make the workplace more inclusive. That includes raising awareness around Muslim practices, improving access to halal food, and advocating for dedicated spaces for prayer.

In March, Muslim Heroes hosted an Iftar dinner at the Delivery Hero Campus, bringing colleagues together to break the fast and celebrate culture, faith and community. For the team behind it, the event was about much more than sharing a meal. It was about making space for an important moment of identity at work. 

What is Muslim Heroes?

Muslim Heroes ERG is about community, representation and understanding. It creates a space where Muslim employees feel seen and supported, while also inviting allies to learn, participate and connect.

Hosting Iftar in the office was especially meaningful because Ramadan is a time of connection. Bringing that experience into the workplace showed that these values are not separate from work culture, but part of it. It was a reminder that belonging is strongest when people feel they do not have to leave important parts of themselves at the door.

Openness & Curiosity

The evening reflected exactly what Muslim Heroes is all about: togetherness. Colleagues came with openness and curiosity, asking questions about fasting, sharing food and spending time together in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

It felt less like a formal event and more like a genuine community moment. That spirit was made even more special by the way colleagues stepped in to support the event’s execution. Events like this also create momentum beyond a single evening. They open the door for awareness, which can then turn into action. For Muslim Heroes, that ongoing work includes practical initiatives such as building a Berlin halal guide and collaborating with teams across the business to improve inclusion.
