Empowering Women at Delivery Hero Through Practical Negotiation Workshops

At Delivery Hero, we are committed to building high-performing teams and investing in our people. 

One of the most recent examples of this came via Women at Delivery Hero, one of our employee resource groups, which led an initiative focused on empowering women with negotiation skills to help them advocate for themselves confidently and effectively.

Negotiation As a Key Skill

The idea came directly from our Women Community, who flagged negotiation as a key skill they wanted to develop, especially when navigating high-stakes conversations in male-dominated environments.

With that in-mind, we designed a three part workshop series tailored specifically to the unique challenges women face in negotiations. This wasn’t just about theory, it was about sharing real-life experiences, building confidence, and giving women the tools to step into these conversations with power and clarity.

Expert Insights & Interactive Activities

The sessions brought together women from all levels across Delivery Hero, from early-career talent, to senior leadership- representing a rich mix of cultures and backgrounds. It was an intentionally intimate format with 30 participants per session, to create the right environment for open discussion and sharing.

The facilitators were our very own colleagues- women leaders within Delivery Hero with deep negotiation experience and a desire to give back. It’s part of how we develop talent- by recognizing expertise within our organisation and lifting each other up.

Each session tackled a different part of the negotiation journey, blending expert insights with interactive activities:

• Workshop 1: Developing Your Negotiation Presence with Deniz Özkan Ergün focused on identifying strengths, preparing for high-stakes talks, and using structured techniques to negotiate effectively.
• Workshop 2: Handling Tough Conversations with Dunja Zivanovic and Julia Schmidtmann provided practical tools and hands-on role play to tackle salary talks and stakeholder discussions with confidence.
• [Coming soon!] Workshop 3: Commanding Presence in Traditionally Male-Led Environments- this will explore how to hold space and assert ideas when you're the only woman at the table.

Not Just a Training

Participants appreciated not just the practical toolkits, but also the chance to connect with peers, share challenges, and support one another’s growth. In short, it wasn’t just training, it was the beginning of a new movement!

Expanding the Series

The final session is set for September, and there is talk of  expanding the series next year with extended sessions and new topics. Our goal? To continue Raising the Bar by supporting leadership development for women across Delivery Hero.
