About the opportunity

We are on the lookout for a Software Engineering Manager (Kotlin/Java), Order Fulfillment - Quick Commerce (all genders) to join our Partner Tools Order Fulfillment squad, on our journey to always deliver amazing experiences. 

Be part of redefining how customers experience quick commerce. You’ll help build technology that scales our non-food offerings, reaching new market segments and driving revenue growth. By innovating within our Quick Commerce Team, you’ll make Delivery Hero the go-to platform for a broad range of products, helping us grow faster and deliver more value to customers around the world.

Contribute to the creation of our next-generation platform that aims to provide the best tools for our dark stores and partners working in supermarkets, local stores, pharmacies, and more. Come to work with us and make the daily tasks of our partners easier, ensuring the best experience in fulfilling grocery orders. 

  • Ensure high code quality, testing, and engineering best practices, and overall product performance

  • Support an established team of engineers in their day-to-day development experience, personal development, and long-term career growth

  • Ensure the high reliability of a low-latency high-throughput system that powers the fulfilment of quick commerce orders  of 60+ countries and all Delivery Hero brands

  • Partner with your product counterpart and provide technical direction to your team, facilitating the design of feasible and iterative solutions aligned with the business needs

  • Own the tech metrics and KPIs of your team, ensuring full visibility, tracking, and alerting

  • Provide technical support for the design of solutions that are reliable, performing, cost-effective, and scalable to meet the business needs


What you need to be successful

  • At least 2 years of experience in managing a team

  • You are a Java / Kotlin expert with a deep understanding of the JVM ecosystem and paradigms, and can abstract this knowledge to multiple scenarios

  • Solid understanding of event-driven architecture patterns and experience with message brokers (Kafka, SNS/SQS)

  • Experience with AWS services (S3, RDS, SNS/SQS, Lambda) and infrastructure as code (Terraform) with strong grasp of distributed systems concepts: data consistency, eventual consistency, idempotency, and fault tolerance

  • You are proficient in writing technical documents (RFCs) in order to clarify feature requirements

  • You are a mentor that can show success cases growing people in their reporting line
