Staff Android Engineer - Quick Commerce

We are hiring a Staff Android Engineer to join our Quick-Commerce team focused on our non-integrated and long-tail partners, powering Delivery Hero - based in Glovo, Barcelona. 

Contribute to the creation of our next generation platform, that works on expanding our amazing delivery to new products such as groceries, pharmaceuticals, flowers and more. Work on warehouse management systems, our shopper app and our customer facing systems. • You will work on our next-generation platform to not only provide groceries for our hungry customers but also other daily urgent needs like drinks, fruits, snacks but also batteries. 

• You will collaborate closely with product managers, engineering leaders, and leadership across Q-Commerce.

• You will be part of  a cross-functional  team focused on the onboarding and early stages of our vendors. 

• Troubleshoot issues, Identify complex problems and analyze potential solutions including workarounds as well as provide timely fixes.

• You will work in a goal-driven environment.

• At least 5 to 7 years of experience in developing Android applications.

• At least 2 years of experience as a Staff engineer of a similar position, supporting hands-on with your expertise in several teams. 

• Native mobile app development experience using Kotlin.

• Strong foundation in Computer Science (data structures, algorithms, software design).

• Solid experience with Android Architecture Patterns, Coroutines Flow, and Modularisation

• Strong understanding of Room for local data storage and caching.

• Deep understanding of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment processes.

• Raise the collective level of expertise within the team, focusing on best practices, design patterns, and system design.

• Be a leader and a model, setting high standards for engineering excellence, performance, scalability and security by example and mentorship

• Drive technological improvements through RFCs or other tools to explain, discuss and align decisions, paving the future of our solutions.

• Assist domain leads in setting the technical vision and strategy.

• Lead the creation and improvement of scalable and reliable systems.

• Always be learning and be a true expert on your area of expertise.

• Gain expertise with our internal design system and use it to ensure seamless experiences across our brands.

• Fluent English communication skills.

• Experience in working with agile methodologies.
