About the opportunity
As a Sr. Manager Legal – Egypt, you will be responsible for overseeing all legal matters and ensuring that the company complies with the legal and regulatory framework in Egypt. In this role, you will support both talabat and instashop, providing expert senior counsel that enables business growth while safeguarding compliance and mitigating risks. Reporting into talabat’s Regional Legal Dept in Dubai, UAE, you will also lead and mentor the local legal team in Egypt, manage external stakeholders, and ensure alignment between legal strategies and business objectives
What's On Your Plate?
● Providing strategic legal guidance to senior management on corporate governance, compliance, commercial contracts, regulatory matters, and litigation/disputes.
● Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, ensuring they align with Egyptian laws and the company’s interests ● Ensuring adherence to Egyptian legal requirements, including corporate, labor, tax, consumer protection and data privacy regulations
● Identifying, assessing and mitigating legal risks, advising on business decisions, and developing practical and commercially sound risk management strategies.
● Managing legal disputes, arbitrations, claims, investigations and settlements to minimize business impact
● Advising on employee contracts, workplace policies, and compliance with labor laws
● Ensuring compliance with corporate governance practices and supporting corporate restructuring, entity management, and Board/shareholder governance activities.
● Leading and mentoring the legal department, ensuring high standards of legal service delivery and professional development
● Managing relationships with external law firms, consultants, and regulatory bodies
● Advising on commercial opportunities and aligning legal strategy with business objectives.
● Partner closely with regional legal, compliance, public affairs, tax, finance, HR, procurement, product, and operations teams to support strategic initiatives and ensure legal alignment across the business.
What you need to be successful
What Did We Order?
● Law degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) and valid license to practice in Egypt
● 7+ years of experience in corporate/commercial law, with proven leadership in a legal role
● Prior in-house legal experience is preferred.
● Knowledge of the e-commerce, tech, food delivery, quick commerce or digital sector is a plus.
● Strong knowledge of Egyptian corporate, commercial, employment, consumer protection, tax, and data privacy laws.
● Strong team leadership and mentoring capabilities
● Excellent drafting, negotiation, problem-solving and communication skills in both Arabic and English
● A strategic mindset, in-depth legal knowledge, and a proactive approach to risk management
● The ability to align legal strategies with business goals and support cross-functional initiatives.
● Commercial acumen with the ability to provide pragmatic, business-oriented legal advice.
● Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and stakeholders in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
