Core Responsibilities:
- Lead and inspire talented engineers and create an environment where a cross-functional, self-organized team can thrive, working in an agile software development environment to discover innovate, implement, deploy and own end-to-end complex software solutions
- Develop and grow engineering talent through effective mentoring, coaching, and retention strategies in a hyper-growing, highly competitive economic environment
- Guide your team in creation of software as an end to end solution to a problem, taking into account non-functional requirements such as availability, scalability, latency and efficiency of talabat’s services in line with our internal engineering standards.
- Guide your team’s discovery, planning and execution to successfully deliver value to our customers in small batches
- Understand and lead your business domain and work with product as well as the business stakeholders to drive desired outcomes on the team and domain level.
- Contribute to the wider tech organization by leading strategic initiatives
What you need to be successful
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering
- 4+ years of hands-on technical leadership, people management experience
- Experience building & leading cross-functional, empowered and self-organized teams of multidisciplinary engineers
- Align with other teams on initiative scope, domain and boundaries
- Analyze and identify possible initiative delays and ensure appropriate communication with team stakeholders
- Successfully transfer knowledge through teaching, mentoring and coaching
- Drive for clarity to ensure that the right customer/business problem is addressed
- Solid experience building large-scale applications using modern programming languages (e.g. C#, Java, Go, etc.).
- Wide experience in different technology stacks, tools, and practices such as DevOps.
- Solid experience in designing, implementing, monitoring and scaling of web apps and APIs
- Experience building iOS and Android mobile apps
- Experience working with agile practices and good understanding of lean/agile values & principles
- Experience in unit-testing, TDD, BDD/ATDD
- Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS
- Solid experience of building applications in distributed systems architecture (Microservices, Event-Driven, SOA and RESTful Services)
- Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, Redis, DynamoDb).
- Experience with CI/CD tools and techniques
- Ensures quality, performance, monitoring, alerting and security using best practices
