Software Backend Engineer II - Customer Logistics

We are on the lookout for a Software Engineer II, Java/Kotlin - (Customer, Logistics) (all genders) to join the Choice Domain on our journey to always deliver amazing experiences.

Short description of the team & position:

• Work on the latest upcoming projects in our Logistics department, building global scale and high quality products.
• Solve highly complex problems, both in technical/algorithmic (geospatial indexing, auto scaling, high resiliency) and regarding business logic (regional semantic differences, complex time and value calculations).
• Be a key part of the entire development lifecycle from specification and implementation to deployment and running the apps in production.
• Work together with a great team to succeed in our mission.
• Innovate technology, process and product within the whole organization.

What you need to be successful: 

• You have 3+ years overall professional server application development experience with a JVM language (Java, Kotlin)
• Experience working with DevOps (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform)
• Experience with cloud providers like AWS,GCP or Azure
• You are curious about new business domains and have a strong analytical, problem solving and collaborative mindset
• Deep understanding of service-oriented and microservices architectural patterns, troubleshooting methods and best practices, including synchronous and event driven API
• Mentorship: You value constant exchange of knowledge
• You love to learn and constantly improve your own skills, and are not afraid to jump into new things
• You believe in cross-functional teams and know that responsibility does not end with deployment and have experience with production incident management

Nice to have:

• Experience with low latency, high throughput systems
• Experience with event-driven architectures architectures using Kafka or Kafka Streams
• Experience with performance monitoring, profiling and improvements (Caching Techniques, SQL Query Optimization, network analysis)
• Experience in eCommerce or Logistics
