We’re looking for a Senior Test Automation Engineer (all genders) to join our Transactions Tribe. We manage the checkout, order placement, payments and wallets for our platform in 21 countries, and process millions of orders a month. 

We’re embarking on an intensive effort to improve our system test automation through integration, contract and other forms of test automation. This involves working with staff engineers responsible for various services and our foundation tribe infrastructure teams to build tooling, working with several teams to set up testing infrastructure and helping them to make our test automation tooling easier to use, more trustworthy and shows impact through reduced shipping times.

Your Mission

• Cataloging existing automation test coverage within teams, and identifying gaps in test coverage

• Work with tech leads to prioritizing which gaps to fill, with the goal of creating an automation test suite providing fast feedback to engineers as they evolve their systems. 

• Set up test environments specific to individual services including setting up of mocks and data setup to simulate behaviors in production.

• Demonstrate how to test specific types of scenarios and then enable engineers to create a more comprehensive test suite with planning support and tooling enhancements where necessary. 

• Collaborate with other TA leads to combine efforts to build tooling required to maintain a large scale test suite

• Define  on the product and quality metrics, logs, alerts; analyze and prioritize observability improvements

• Perform exploratory and usability testing when necessary

Your Heroic Skills

• 5+ years work experience in quality assurance

• 3+ years of experience in API or system testing

• Strong knowledge and experience in test automation engineering

• Experience with relational databases and queueing systems

• Experience with GCP and/or AWS

• Experience with setting up and configuring CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Jenkins, TravisCI, Drone)

• Familiar with common logging, monitoring, alerting tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Kibana, etc.

• Experience using Docker to run local test automation

• Strong troubleshooting skills

• Experience with defining and executing QA strategy

• Ability to create and maintain testing documentation

• Ability to quickly understand complex technical concepts and transpose them into clear concise documentation

• Good communication skills and fluent English

Nice to Have Skills

• Understanding of contract testing using tools like Pact or Spring Cloud Contracts

• Understanding of service-oriented and microservices architectural patterns

• Knowledge of SRE practices, reliability principles, chaos engineering

• Experience with Kubernetes

• Experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, Helm
