Senior Backend Engineer, Java/Kotlin - Logistics, Choice

We are on the lookout for a Senior Backend Engineer, Java/Kotlin - (Logistics, Choice) to join the Customer Logistics team on our journey to always deliver amazing experiences. 

In our Logistics Team, you’ll tackle high-impact challenges that make last-mile delivery efficient, affordable, and sustainable. Your work will directly improve experiences for riders, end customers, and merchants across the globe. Each enhancement you contribute will help Delivery Hero optimize delivery operations, supporting expansion into new areas like grocery and retail.

• Work on the latest upcoming projects in our Logistics department, building global scale and high-quality products.

• Solve highly complex problems, both in technical/algorithmic (geospatial indexing, auto-scaling, high resiliency) with business logic combined with data science models.

• Be a key part of the entire development lifecycle from specification and implementation to deployment and running the apps in production.

• Work together with a great team to succeed in our mission.

• Innovate technology, processes and products within the whole organization.

• You have 5+ years overall professional server application development experience with a JVM language (Java, Kotlin).

• Experience working with DevOps (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform).

• Experience with cloud providers like AWS, GCP or Azure.

• You are curious about new business domains and have a strong analytical, problem-solving and collaborative mindset.

• Deep understanding of event based and microservices architectural patterns, troubleshooting methods and best practices.

• Experience with performance monitoring, profiling and improvements (Caching Techniques, network analysis).

• Mentorship: You value the constant exchange of knowledge.

• You love to learn and constantly improve your own skills, and are not afraid to jump into new things.

• You believe in cross-functional teams and know that responsibility does not end with deployment.
   

Nice to have:

• Experience with low latency, high throughput systems.

• Experience with event-driven architectures using Kafka or Kafka Streams.

• Experience with geospatial data and systems, especially H3.

• Experience with Python.

• Experience in eCommerce or Logistics.
