Principal Engineer (Fintech)

We are looking for a Principal Engineer - Fintech to join our Fintech team and build worldwide innovative Wallet, Payment, and Anti-Fraud solutions with us. Work and scale our internal Payments engine that would handle payments for the entire Delivery Hero. Your work will support our path to profitability by creating financial flexibility for users and enabling smooth transactions across 70+ countries.

• Be an active partner for Engineering and Product Management to provide the best value for stakeholders and our customers, define technical OKRs for the tribe and vertical with a strong focus on reliability and scalability.

• Drive cross-domain and cross-tribe architecture discussions and present tribe architecture in reviews, challenge the status quo and identify improvement points for individual components, as well as the system as a whole

• Set standards for Engineering Excellence by leading by example and mentoring engineers (primarily Senior and Staff engineers)

• Drive technological improvements (through RFCs or other tools), explain, discuss and align decisions paving the future of our solutions

• Perform periodical reviews of reliability, load test confidence, cost efficiency and security commandments on the tribe level

• Enable visibility of our system’s KPIs through meaningful metrics, dashboards, and alerts.

• Design and implement cutting-edge applications that will transform the Fintech services industry.

• Craft and maintain world-class, high traffic services and APIs in a team of experienced SoftwareEngineers.

• Initiate and execute software delivery and technical improvements (e.g., scaling, technical debt reduction) across the tribe and beyond, define tribe-level standards and tech strategy

• Foster knowledge sharing across the entity/vertical, promote and introduce best practices to continuously improve teams performance and developers' experience

• Contribute to the tribe org design, ensuring teams are aligned to a flow of work, and there is a right balance of enabling/platform teams to ensure the org design can scale. 

• Experienced in Payment, E-money or Wallet FinTech solutions industry.

• Deep understanding & proven experience in JVM-based technologies(Kotlin Knowledge is a plus).

• 10+ years of experience building and delivering software solutions, including distributed systems based on microservices, API- and event-based communication, data processing (streaming and batch)

• Knowledge of storage systems such as, PostgreSQL, Redis

• Knowledge of AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, and infrastructure as a code

• Understanding of monitoring tools such as Grafana, Kibana, DataDog etc

• Experience with cloud cost optimization

• Ability to lead and drive technical initiatives across multiple teams

• Significant and proven experience building and delivering solutions at scale

• Deep understanding of software architecture, scalability and reliability

• You are pragmatic and focused on empowering others

• Ability to work independently as well as in a group.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, ability to communicate technical topics and architecture design using both written and visual communication to tech-savvy and non-tech-savvy stakeholders

Nice to Have:

• Knowledge of frontend and mobile technologies, 

• Experience with cloud cost optimization

• Active blog writer, meet-ups/conferences speaker, open-source contributor
