Engineer II, Kotlin/Java - (Logistics, Routing Optimisation)

In our Logistics Team, you’ll tackle high-impact challenges that make last-mile delivery efficient, affordable, and sustainable. Your work will directly improve experiences for riders, end customers, and merchants across the globe. Each enhancement you contribute will help Delivery Hero optimize delivery operations, supporting expansion into new areas like grocery and retail.In our Logistics Team, you’ll tackle high-impact challenges that make last-mile delivery efficient, affordable, and sustainable. Your work will directly improve experiences for riders, end customers, and merchants across the globe. Each enhancement you contribute will help Delivery Hero optimize delivery operations, supporting expansion into new areas like grocery and retail.

In this role, you will:

• Participate in one of the most exciting components of the food delivery business: dispatching algorithm, simulation, and route estimations are some of the topics you'll work on a daily basis!

• Small improvement matters at scale! Implement and improve cutting-edge algorithms for optimizing our dispatching process.

• Own and evolve a set of services responsible for building and providing courier routes.

• Be a key part of the entire development lifecycle from specification to deployment and running the apps in production.

• Work together with a great team to succeed in our mission.

• Ensure scalable and quality code is built.

• You have 3+ years of overall professional application development experience.

• Proficiency in Kotlin, the JVM, or similar technologies.

• Understanding of service-oriented and microservices architectural patterns.

• You own your software end-to-end, including cloud deployment and monitoring.

• You have a strong problem-solving and collaborative mindset.

Nice to have:

• Knowledge of distributed systems and horizontal scalability topics.

• Experience with highly concurrent systems and multi-threading.

• Experience with infrastructure-related technologies like Kubernetes, Terraform, Docker, continuous integration, and AWS or Google Cloud providers.
