Principal Legal Counsel- Antitrust and Trade (all genders)

We on the lookout for a Principal Legal Counsel (all genders) to join the Antitrust and Trade Law team as part of Delivery Hero’s Legal, Governance and Assurance department to support us on our journey to always delivering amazing experiences.

The Antitrust and Trade Law team is responsible for Delivery Hero's competition and trade law matters globally, covering the 60+ jurisdictions where we operate. We are involved from the start on exciting M&A transactions, develop strategies in relation to competition investigations, and foster compliance efforts with competition and sanctions laws throughout the group. We are a dynamic team, regularly dealing with novel questions and coming up with innovative solutions to address both legal risks and business needs.

• Overseeing and advising on all aspects of competition law arising in the context of Delivery Hero’s global operations, including merger control, antitrust investigations and commercial agreements, across 60+ jurisdictions; 

• Providing pragmatic advice in relation to the structuring and risks of potential M&A transactions, including running multi-jurisdictional merger control and foreign direct investment filing assessments, advising on due diligence processes, transaction agreement clauses as well as post-merger integration processes, and overseeing filing processes;

• Leading on antitrust investigations, including developing strategies and updating senior management on these investigations; 

• Guiding local legal teams on a wide range of competition law matters including on  investigations and compliance questions across our jurisdictions and developing best practices;

• Advising on international trade law, in particular on risk mitigation strategies related to EU and US sanctions laws; 

• Developing your managerial skills by leading on strategic projects;

• Coordinating and negotiating terms with external lawyers; and

• Jumping into a dynamic work environment, tackling novel legal questions and developing innovative solutions that balance business needs with legal risks.

• Experience: You have  8+ years of post-qualification experience working in both reputable international law firms and in-house positions, focusing on competition and trade law. Experience advising platforms or tech companies is preferred.

• Expertise: You are an expert in EU competition law, adept at advising on all substantive and procedural aspects, including merger control, vertical restraints, cartel investigations and platform regulations. You are also familiar with foreign direct investment regimes, the Foreign Subsidies Regulation, and US and EU export control and sanctions laws.

• Global Perspective: You have experience with competition and foreign direct investment regimes across multiple jurisdictions.

• Communication Skills: You are an excellent communicator, capable of providing on-the-spot, pragmatic advice to business teams and senior executives. You are able to prioritise business needs while balancing legal risks.

• Leadership: You have a track record of leading teams on projects and managing more junior lawyers effectively.

• Language Proficiency: You are fully proficient in English. Knowledge of German or other languages is an asset but not a requirement.
