Manager, Engineering (recommendations)

We are on the lookout for a manager, engineering to join our Global Ranking and Recommendation domain and take ownership of building scalable ML serving and orchestration systems. Your work will empower ranking and recommendation experiences that enhance user engagement and personalization. • Lead and manage a team of engineers to design, build, and maintain ML serving and orchestration infrastructure.

• Develop scalable ML serving systems that support ranking and recommendation use cases, ensuring reliability and performance.

• Optimize real-time inference pipelines to deliver low-latency, high-throughput recommendations at scale.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data scientists, product managers, and platform engineers to integrate ML solutions seamlessly into production.

• Drive innovation in model deployment, versioning, rollback strategies, and automated ML workflows.

• Enhance system observability by implementing monitoring, logging, and alerting for ML serving pipelines.

• Improve cost efficiency of ML serving infrastructure through optimized resource allocation and autoscaling.

• Ensure best practices in ML Ops, CI/CD pipelines, and security compliance for ML workloads.

• Leadership & Team Management: Proven experience managing and mentoring engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work culture.

• ML Serving & Orchestration: Strong experience in designing and maintaining ML serving infrastructure using tools such as TensorFlow Serving, TorchServe, Triton Inference Server, or Kubernetes-based deployment strategies.

• Scalable ML Deployment: Expertise in deploying and optimizing ML models in production environments, focusing on efficient orchestration and service reliability.

• Technical Stack Proficiency: Hands-on experience with technologies such as Kubernetes, Kafka, Airflow, MLflow, and cloud services (AWS and GCP) for scalable ML operations.

• Real-time Inference & Gateway Systems: Experience building high-performance, low-latency inference gateways that support ranking and recommendation pipelines.

• ML Ops & Automation: Deep understanding of ML Ops best practices, CI/CD for ML models, and automated model versioning and rollback strategies.

• Cross-functional Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with product, data science, and platform teams to ensure ML models are efficiently served and integrated into production workflows.

• Performance Optimization: Experience in optimizing ML serving architectures for speed, cost, and scalability.

Nice to Have

• Experience with feature stores, vector databases, or real-time feature engineering.

• Familiarity with A/B testing frameworks and experimentation platforms.

• Previous experience in search, ranking, personalization, or relevance engineering.

• Contributions to open-source ML projects or published research in ML conferences.

• Experience in privacy-preserving ML techniques and responsible AI practices.

• Knowledge of serverless ML serving architectures and edge inference optimizations.
